Mom, the Stroke in the Beginning

When my father began to suffer from dementia and Alzheimer’s my parents sold their house in Albuquerque, moved to Reno and rented an apartment. They lived there about two years until my father passed. The last year was very difficult for Mom as my father’s condition became very difficult for her, however for personal reasons she was determined not to put him in an outside facility.

Next month we will resume some aphasia therapy in a program at the CSUEB graduate school. She was in a group program for the summer, In the fall she may be in the group program as well as individual sessions.

I will let you know how they work out as well as explore aphasia in general, see some of Mom’s achievements and eforts and try find things that work to make her life better.
